Mr. Batara Sianturi was appointed as Citi Country Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Citibank N.A. - Indonesia Branch in June 2015. Prior to this appointment he was the Citi Country Officer and Regional Head for Citi Philippines and Guam. During the 28 years that he has been with Citi, Batara has held a range of senior leadership and strategic positions, such as Chief Financial Officer, Retail Banking Director and Country Marketing Director for the Retail Banking and Credit Cards business, all of which were achieved while he was in Indonesia. In 2005, he relocated to Hungary and appointed as the Consumer Business Manager before taking on a broader role of becoming Citi Country Officer in 2007. In 2008 the role was expanded to Regional Head of 12 countries in Central Eastern Europe (Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Macedonia, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus and Moldova). In terms of awards and recognitions, he was named as one of the Top 25 Executives in Indonesia by SWA Magazine of 2009. He was also the recipient of the Golden Beehive Memorial Coin Award in 2013 from the Hungarian Banking Association. He has two bachelor degrees namely in Chemical Engineering and in Polymer/Macromolecular Science from Case Western Reserve University in the year 1979 to 1983 and a Master Degree in Chemical Engineering from Steven’s institute of Technology in the year 1983 to 1984 and an MBA in Finance from St. John’s University in the year 1986 to 1988.
